Hey y'all!
Just popping in to check in how y’all are doing?! Most of us are already going into our fourth (or is it fifth already?!) week of social distancing and I am to the point where I have no idea what day it is! Half joking of course. Which made me think, I’m definitely not the only person feeling this way. Not by a long shot! So I wanted to put together this post to help show you why you should still be sticking to a routine even during this weird/crazy time. Sure it’s super easy to stay in your comfies all day and eat your feelings away… but that will drive you crazy after a few days! Right?! So I say let’s go ahead and use this time to better ourselves.
I think it is safe to say that every gym (and almost every business unfortunately) has closed around the country due to the coronavirus. Honestly this still feels like such a surreal time. Since your gym is closed, I want to remind you that you don’t have to lose the progress you’ve made! This isn’t an excuse to get lazy y’all! You can totally get one heck of a workout in from the comfort of your own home! It’s crazy how much you can get done with using just your bodyweight and/or minimal equipment. The hard part with working out from home is finding the drive and motivation to actually get started. Once you find that, you will be unstoppable! If you are having a hard time finding motivation or ideas for home workouts… I know someone who can help 😉
Once you do find that motivation, there are a few ways to help make sure you are successful when it comes to knocking out those home workouts:
1. Go in with a plan. Write it down if you need to!
2. Schedule your workouts like you usually would (example: Monday – upper body; Tuesday – lower body; Wednesday – upper body; Thursday – lower body; Friday – full body)
3. Knock it out early! Don’t keep putting it off, because it will be 9:00 pm before you know it and then you’ll just “try again tomorrow”.
4. Put your workout clothes on, your headphones, and anything else you would typically wear/use while at the gym. Have you ever put gym clothes on and then felt lazy for just wearing them to sit on the couch… don’t lie to me 😉
Try these tricks out daily and I promise you that you will find that motivation to get off your booty and go get a workout in. It doesn’t have to be an hour. Heck, if you can get in a 15-20 minute workout that would be solid. Just get up and do something! You don’t want to come out of this quarantine having lost any progress you made prior, do you?!
To sum it all up - make a plan and stick to it! Use this time to better yourself. And I don’t just mean physically. Use this time to better yourself mentally too! I want to encourage you in this time to take a step back and become more present. I know that right now it may seem tough, but we are all in this together. Even though everything is a bit unknown at the moment, let’s still keep our heads up! Let’s stay moving, stay positive, and stay home y’all!
